While the typical course of study in journalism focuses on writing, research and reporting news, photojournalism explores those areas in a completely different way. Students are taught to capture news, science, current events and the world around us through the eye of the camera lens. Many war correspondents are photojournalists. Photojournalists work for newspapers, magazines and electronic media companies. They are often self employed, freelancing for a number of employers are any given time. Photojournalist have the advantage of being able to work in an array of areas and often travel the world, while getting paid, to capture a story.
