Computers must be loaded with programs and software in order to function. Word processors, web browsers, news readers and computer games are examples of software. The most common software and media applications career is computer programmer. Computer programmers create, debug and test software programs. Testers check programs for bugs and help programmers by offering feedback. These positions can be an excellent way to gain experience and enter the industry and may require only an associate's degree as a prerequisite.
