Agricultural Teacher Education: General Info
Becoming an agricultural teacher can be very rewarding. Many agricultural teachers work within a vocational school but rural high schools often offer an agricultural track as part of the standard curriculum. Agriculture is one area of education where the job potential is excellent due to an ongoing shortage of qualified agricultural teachers. And although the need for teachers is great, teaching is not the only option for those with a degree in agricultural education. Positions exist in extension services, 4-H, state programs and even as agricultural lobbyists. Agricultural teachers at the post-secondary level can expect to earn an average of $77,00 annually according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, www.bls.gov.
