Responsibilities of a Clinical Nutritionist
Clinical nutritionists work in hospitals, nursing homes, private clinics and other health care establishments. They are responsible for helping to develop nutritional plans to aid in a patient's treatment or recovery. Clinical nutritionists must pass professional licensing exams in order to practice. Often a degree in food science, biology, chemistry, medicine or a similar field is required. In these programs, students study food chemistry, nutrition, human anatomy and other health issues related to nutrition. In practice, nutritionists work closely with patients and physicians to make informed decisions and recommendations related to nutrition, healthy eating and long term treatment options.
