Organizational behavior is the scientific study of the way that people act in organized groups such as those found in the workplace. This study may help human resources professionals to develop theories that can be implemented in the workplace environment in order to increase employee and worker productivity, efficiency and job satisfaction. Students of organizational behavior study psychology and psychological concepts such as organizational theory, incentives and reinforcement, organizational sociology, power and influential dynamics and personal leadership. Organizational behavioral theory is useful in any setting and is applied in government, industry, business, education and many other areas.
Graduate Degrees: General Information
A graduate degree is an advanced academic degree awarded by universities and graduate schools. The most common graduate degrees are master's degrees and doctoral degrees. A master's degree program typically takes one to two years to complete and serves as preparation for employment of doctoral studies. A doctoral degree program, which is the highest level of graduate study, can take up to five years to complete.
