Dental laboratory technicians, or technologists, work with plastics, metals, advanced polymers and other space aged materials to develop dental appliances, including braces, bridges, crowns and dentures. These are technically demanding careers that require specialized career training, often in the form of an associate's or bachelor's degree in Dental Technology. In these programs students will learn the techniques and skills needed in order to succeed in the workplace, including how to fashion a set of dentures, mold false teeth, build dental bridges and more. Graduates must pass the National Board of Certification - Dental Laboratory Technology certification exam.
