Criminology Studies: General Info
Criminal behavior, crime's effect on society, abnormal psychology, criminal law and criminal theory are all part of a solid course in criminology. A general criminology studies course will teach the student to examine the how and why behind the crime and how crime affects society. Normal behavior is studied and then abnormal criminal behavior is examined to determine how and if crimes and criminals can be stopped or rehabilitated. Basic skills such as computer science, writing, statistics, logic and research are focused on as well. Those wishing to go on to graduate degrees will take their studies even further examining forensics and a more in-depth study of criminal behavior and societal effect. A bachelor's degree is a must in the field of criminology but for those wishing to engage in professional research or hold teaching positions a graduate degree is usually required.
