Pharmaceutical Administration Careers: General Info
Pharmaceutical administrators oversee research laboratories, pharmacies in hospitals, nursing homes and other clinics and retail pharmacies as well. Their duties include cataloging stock of controlled substances, answering questions from patients, coordinating treatment plans with physicians and other managerial tasks. Pharmaceutical administrators often hold at least a master's degree, with many completing a doctorate, which is now known as a PharmD. The PharmD degree includes three to four years of classroom study along with a period of residency in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting. Pharmacy administrators commonly earn over $100,000 a year, according to Salary.com.
