Pharmacy Science Careers: General Info
Careers in pharmacy science often appear simple to outsiders, but pharmacists receive much of the same training as medical doctors. Their curriculum is based on an intensive study of mathematical, biological, chemical and physical principles. They must also understand how the vast array of available medications interact with patients and with other medications. These positions require intense concentration, as a small mistake in dispensing medication can result in illness or even death in a patient. Many pharmacy science professionals work towards the research and development of new lifesaving medications. These professionals perform experiments based on medical and chemical theory in an attempt to cure diseases like AIDS, cancer, Parkinson's, ALS and others. If you have an aptitude for science and math and want to make a direct impact in the lives of others, consider a career in the pharmaceutical sciences.
