Adult Care Nursing Degrees: General Info
Adult care nursing professionals are becoming more common as members of the so-called Baby Boom generation enter their golden years. In the coming decade, the over-60 population is expected to be greater than ever before. Many colleges and universities are offering specialized nursing degrees for those students interested in becoming an adult care nurse. Students will typically earn a bachelor's degree in Nursing. In these programs, students can expect to study mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. Students will also take health care specific courses in pathology, professional ethics, common procedures, patients' rights, pharmacology and other related fields. Courses on aging, neurology, mental health and gerontology will also be available for students interested in adult care nursing. Nursing degree programs also help to prepare students to meet the necessary requirements to become an RN (Registered Nurse).
