Visual Technician Degrees: General Overview
A visual communication technician uses editing software, video cameras, special effects and other communications technology to improve news broadcasts, movies, television programs and advertisements. Most visual technicians work for television stations, movie studios or special effects houses. These positions require an associate's or bachelor's degree in Communications, Computer Science or a similar field. Some positions, however, may only require a non-degree certificate that is earned from a vocational school or other institution. With computers and digital image manipulation software playing a larger role in telecommunications, it is essential for professionals to keep up with the times and be trained and ready to use the latest professional equipment.
