Combining modern technology with the science behind criminal justice and forensics is the goal of a Forensic Technology and Science degree. Classes in the basics of math, biology, chemistry and law enforcement are studied along with forensic technigues, laboratory skills, use of forensic equipment and computer equipment. Crime scene investigation, evidence collection, preservation and interpretation, police procedures, law enforcement policies and criminal investigation are also studied. Those merely wishing to work as a forensic science lab technician may choose an associate degree program. Individuals wishing to do more than start out at the bottom of the ladder can earn the Bachelor of Science in Forensic Technology and Science degree. Those who already have a BS in biology or chemistry can bring a forensic science specialty to their career path with further education in the field.

It provides four years of training in your chosen field teaching you the needed skills to advance in the work force. Most bachelor degree programs cover basics such as English, literature and math along with plenty of degree-specific classes. Associate's degree credits can be applied towards a bachelor's degree although when transferring from one school to another not all credits will be accepted. A bachelor's degree is also a prerequisite for any graduate program students wish to undertake.
