A degree in general psychology starts with a minimum of a bachelor's degree with many students aiming for a master's degree or doctorate. Most jobs today require a master's or doctorate degree. General psychology delves into the mind, human behavior, stress and social, physical and environmental issues that effect our behavior. Instruction is provided in ethical and regulation standards, abnormal psychology, neuropsychology, learning theory, human development from birth through maturity, communication skills, mental illness and disorders and therapeutic intervention strategies.
