A Career in Public Administration: General Info
Those with a degree in Public Admin. have a number of job options available to them. Positions exist in the areas of public safety and health, public administration, project manager, policy analyst, budget manager or disaster preparedness. Doctoral Degree Programs: General Information
Doctoral degree programs are the most advanced courses of study offered by most American universities. Some programs offer simultaneous master's and doctoral degrees, while others require students to complete a master's degree first. Other programs may be started directly following completion of the undergraduate degree. Doctoral degree programs are made up of courses, often called seminars, where topics are investigated at a much greater depth than in undergraduate classes. Many doctoral candidates teach undergraduate classes or assist professors in preparing for their classes. Most doctoral degree programs also require completion of a dissertation. A dissertation is an extended essay that requires extensive research and exhaustive preparation. In order to complete the program, the candidate must submit his or her dissertation to faculty members for review.
