Psychiatric Health Services Technician: General Info
Psychiatric health services technicians work with licensed psychiatrists and other mental health professionals. Their job duties may include preparing patients for therapy sessions, helping develop treatment plans, communicating with patients and health care providers, administering medications, recording patient information and more. Specialized associate degree programs are available to prepare students for these and other medical health positions. In these programs, students study cognitive function, mental health procedures, medications, addictions, professional ethics and other related topics. Many programs include opportunities for students to intern with local hospitals or other health care providers to gain valuable professional experience.
