Student Guidance and Counseling Degrees: General Info
Student counselors play a vital role within the school system and the lives of students. They provide support for struggling students and their families, counsel students on career choices, play a role as mediators between the school and parents and help keep troubled kids in school. Those wishing to earn their degree in student guidance and counseling need to be good communicators, have a desire to help others and have strong leadership skills. Student counselors can be found substitute teaching, designing intervention programs for at risk students, listening to problems of troubled students and helping students prepare for higher education.
