Educational Requirements for Anesthesiology Assistants
Anesthesiologist Assistants are trained health care professionals who work in cooperation with licensed anesthesiologists to develop anesthesia treatment plans for surgical patients and others in need of supervised sedation. A master's degree in Anesthesia Sciences is available from several accredited institutions around the country. In these programs, students study anesthesia techniques, commonly used medicines and will also spend significant time in a clinical environment studying under licensed anesthesiologists and their assistants. Students will often be provided with memberships in national anesthesiology groups, like the ASA (American Society of Anesthesiologists).
