Occupational therapy assistants work with licensed occupational therapists to help those patients suffering from mental, emotional, psychological, physical or developmental disabilities. Their duties may include helping patients with day to day activities and readying equipment used during therapy sessions. Most occupational therapy assisting workers are required to complete at least an associate degree program or a specialized career certification program. Occupational therapy assistants earned a median salary of over $42,000 a year in 2006, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
