Clinical and Medical Lab Assistant Degrees: General Info

Clinical and medical lab assistants stock shelves, collect specimens, perform diagnostic tests, report testing results and perform many duties essential to the operation of a successful laboratory. Many medical laboratory technicians, nurses and other health care professionals begin their careers as medical lab assistants. These positions offer the opportunity to gain professional experience which can prove valuable in future positions. Often, a GED or high school diploma is all that is required for these positions. An associate's degree or bachelor's degree is encouraged, however. Many employers look for candidates with an interest in furthering their education and future health care careers. Medical lab assistants typically earn between $10-$12 an hour, according to Salary.com.

Undergraduate Degrees: General Info

An undergraduate degree is an academic degree that is awarded to students who complete a higher learning program at a college or university. In the United States, the most common type of undergraduate degree is a baccalaureate or bachelor's degree. However, undergraduate students can also obtain a lesser degree, which is known as an associate's degree. The amount of time it takes to earn an undergraduate degree depends on the program and the school, but most students can obtain a bachelor's in three to four years and an associate's degree in one to two years.
